French instructor invited to conference in Morocco
Associate professor Anne George was among a select group of academics, writers and artists invited to an April 7-9 international colloquium in Rabat (Morocco) commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Moroccan Journal of Culture and Politics, “Souffles-Anfas.” Founded in 1966 by poet Abdellatif Laâbi and a small group of avant-garde Moroccan thinkers, “Souffles-Anfas” was a conduit for experimental art and progressive politics in Morocco.
George, who teaches French, presented a paper detailing how she and a collaborator uploaded “Souffles” content to the web, which allowed the journal to find a new life online. The event was sponsored by the Moroccan Ministry of Culture, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and the National Library of Morocco.
