Once again, the WCC Sustainability Club invites you to join them for a series of fun and informative events during Earth Week!
Tuesday, April 18, in the Syre foyer (or outside if it’s nice): Our club President Liz Cunningham will be giving away plant seedlings for students to take home and grow in pots or gardens—for free! Stop by and chat with Liz about growing plants sustainably. Event runs from 2:00 to 4:00.
Wednesday, April 19, in the Syre foyer: Volunteers from Bellingham’s own Repair Café will be on hand from 4:00 to 5:00. Students can bring their broken stuff and have a volunteer fix it for them, keeping it out of the waste stream and making it usable again. First-come, first-served. Free!
Thursday, April 20, in the Courtyard: Club members will join Professor Jennifer Zovar’s students as they do a Trash Audit to find out how well Whatcom students and staff are doing at recycling and composting. Anyone on campus is welcome to come don protective gloves and find out how much campus garbage could actually have been recycled or composted. Good, icky fun! Event runs from 11:00 until it’s done.
Also on Thursday, April 20, from 4:00 to 5:00 in Syre: Join members of the Sustainability Club and the STEM club as they paint signs for the March for Science. Free pizza!
