Bellingham, Wash. –Whatcom Community College’s Community & Continuing Education program is offering two road trips to popular Seattle destinations this spring. Registration is now open.
On Saturday, May 13, see the extraordinary "Terracotta Warriors" buried 2,200 years ago beside the tomb of China's First Emperor, along with numerous artifacts from the first imperial dynasty of China at Seattle’s Pacific Science Center. Learn the cultural and historical context of these warriors, how they were discovered, the mystery of the tomb they guarded, and the science behind the sculptures. This exhibit is only coming to Seattle and Philadelphia, so don’t miss this amazing cultural opportunity. The group will depart Bellingham at 8:15 a.m. and leave Seattle at 3:30 p.m. The $99 course fee includes transportation, exhibit admission, IMAX film Mysteries of China and audio tour guide. Registration deadline is May 1 at noon.
On Saturday, June 3, join local artists Trish Harding and Deb McCunn for a guided tour through Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park. This 9-acre former industrial site is home to a variety of important outdoor sculptures, gardens, and a wide range of environmental waterfront restorations. Participants will enjoy the award-winning z-shaped path through the park leading down to Elliott Bay and sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The group will depart Bellingham at 9 a.m. and leave Seattle at 3 p.m. Course fee is $79. Registration deadline is May 22 at noon.
