Whatcom honored by Combined Fund Drive
For the second year in a row, Whatcom Community College was recognized by the Combined Fund Drive for having the highest percentage of participation by a community college. In 2016, 50.25% of WCC's employees participated in the Combined Fund Drive (CFD), the workplace giving program for state employees.
Each year WCC's CFD sponsors a baked potato and salad bar for September's All College Day for employees, an October soup kitchen, holiday cookie sale, Pi(e) day on March 14, and the Professional Development Day taco bar lunch. Employees provide a donation for the food items, and the CFD distributes those funds to non-profits such as the WCC Foundation, Boys & Girls Club, Whatcom Hospice Center and Whatcom Literacy Council. In 2016, the CFD raised more than $5,600.
About the Combined Fund Drive: CFD is Washington State’s workplace giving program for active and retired public employees. State and higher education employees are invited to give to the charity of their choice through payroll contribution and agency fundraising events. Learn more at www.cfd.wa.gov.
