Whatcom Community College President's statement regarding DACA

Dr. Kathi Hiyane-Brown issued the below statement

Post Date:09/05/2017 3:14 p.m.

Whatcom Community College remains committed to our undocumented students and welcomes all students, regardless of their background, to our campus. WCC stands with Washington’s higher education institutions in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. We understand this is an extremely stressful time for our students and all of us who support their education. Whatcom will continue to offer mentoring, guidance on educational strategies and financial opportunities, and tools to help undocumented students achieve their dreams of an education. WCC remains dedicated to providing the opportunities and pathways for students to learn and be successful.

If you or someone you know may be affected by a change to DACA, we encourage you to view the resources available on WCC’s website and the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.

As a reminder, student record information is confidential and WCC is mandated by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to protect the privacy of all students. If you have questions or receive a request for student information, please contact the Vice President for Student Services Office at 360.383.3070.
