WCC librarian awarded by Washington Library Association

Post Date:12/18/2017
Howard Fuller and Ro McKernanOver the summer, WCC library and information science faculty Ro McKernan was awarded the outstanding performance award by the Washington Library Association (WLA) for her work expanding the College’s collection of Open Educational Resources (OER). The awards committee was especially impressed by her work creating a program that helps eliminate students’ financial obstacle to college success due to the rising cost of textbooks.

“Over the past six years, Ro has infused WCC with an awareness and call-to-action in the building and use of Open Education Resources,” said library director Howard Fuller. “Ro’s work with OER saves many students hundreds of dollars annually in textbook costs.”

Ro’s passion and dedication to both libraries and students is evident. Congratulations, Ro!
