Susan Colleen Browne is the author of a 2009 memoir, Little Farm in the Foothills: A Boomer Couple's Search for the Slow Life. A story about simpler living and backyard farming, Little Farm was selected for the Washington State Library's Summer Reads 2010 booklist. Susan has been a creative writing teacher for Whatcom Community College Community Education for over a decade. She's a frequent speaker and workshop leader at writers' conferences, and her articles and columns have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines. Fiction writing has always been her passion, and she's the author of a series set in Ireland: a novel, It Only Takes Once, and 2 short novellas, The Secret Well and The Christmas Visitor. Susan has also published a children's story, The Curse of the Corpse Bride. In addition to her writing, publishing, and speaking activities, Susan brings her longtime experience as a freelance manuscript editor to her writing classes. Teaching at Whatcom gives Susan the welcome opportunity to meet and mentor other writers, and she continues to be inspired by all the writing talent she sees in her classes!
Susan holds a B.S. from Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University, and is a member of Whatcom Writers and Publishers.
