Jess Flegel has been working in the custom framing industry for over ten years and has been training other framers since then. She has also hosted a number of sewing related workshops over the years in Bellingham. Most recently, an introduction to modern quilting in her studio at Make.Shift Art Space. Being able to share skills and enable others to expand their abilities is a valuable part of her life in this creative minded community.
Jess graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art from Judson University in Elgin, IL before moving to Bellingham in 2003. Jess plays an active role in the Bellingham art community, organizing and participating in events from holiday craft fairs to large-scale gallery exhibitions. Her work as gallery director at Make.Shift Art Space has earned the alternative gallery Cascadia Weekly's "Best Bellingham Gallery" two years in a row.
When she is not framing at the shop, or sewing in the studio, Jess enjoys cycling and movies and lots of time around the bbq with friends.
