LAUREL LEIGH is a writer, teacher, and editor and freelances internationally. Her skills are highly sought by established book publishers, producers, custom publishers, and individual authors. She has acted as project manager for numerous titles published by Chronicle Books and has reviewed for The Bloomsbury Review. Her fiction has appeared in the acclaimed literary magazine The Sun as well as receiving notable mention in the prize anthology Best of the West 2011. A recent story of hers, “Darrell, In Milwaukee”—from her linked collection-in-process titled Shoeless—appeared in the Fall 2013 issue of Clover: A Literary Rag published by the Independent Writers’ Studio.

Laurel holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with Fiction emphasis from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism from Gonzaga University. She is a co-founder of the San Francisco–based Dogpatch Writers Collective and its blog and also authors the blog Dear Writers, where her motto is: It’s a Good Day to Write. Locally, she is well known as the emcee for Village Books’ popular Open Mic Night in historic Fairhaven.

She has taught creative writing workshops for several years, and her teaching approach emphasizes gaining both writing craft and revision techniques, building on the idea that if a writer can craft a single compelling scene, that writer can craft a compelling short story or novel.
