Ryler Dustin is the author of the poetry collection Heavy Lead Birdsong from Write Bloody Publishing and the chapbook The Lantern Sea from Destructible Heart Press. A two-time member of the Seattle Slam Team, he has placed eighth in the Individual World Poetry Slam and headlined at spoken word venues across the U.S. His poetry appears in journals such as The Southern Review and Iron Horse, and he was the recent writer-in-residence for the Jack Kerouac Project of Orlando and the Margery Davis Boyden Wilderness Writing Residency.
A native of Bellingham, Washington, he fell in love with spoken word through a local poetry reading. Ryler went on to obtain his MFA in Creative Writing through the University of Houston, and is a current PhD candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Ryler enjoys hiking, kayaking, and ice cream.
