Our trainers provide management, computer, sales, and other soft skills training directly applicable to the workplace. Not only do they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in their fields, but most live and work right here in Whatcom and Skagit Counties and are able to provide insight into the local business community. As student evaluations consistently attest, our instructors know their subjects and are experts at bringing out the best in busy adult learners.
Instructor-authored materials and/or cutting-edge textbooks in our computer classes, as well as high-quality handouts in our professional development workshops, enable class participants to continue to review and put into practice what they learn long after the training sessions end.

What is customized training?
Whatcom Community College specializes in group training. Groups can be as small as five people or as large as 50. We customize course curriculum to the specific needs and concerns of your business or organization. By customizing the training, we can focus on your specific needs and issues. Workshops are taught in a standard lecture/hands-on format with plenty of time for questions.
Do I have to be a business to take advantage of your customized training services? We do not require that our customers have a business to take advantage of customized training. We have provided training for local clubs, neighborhood groups, and nonprofit organizations. However, if you are not with a business, government agency, or nonprofit organization, we will require payment before the class begins.
How long is the training?
Training can vary in length depending on your needs and budget. After an initial consultation, a proposal will be provided complete with suggested training topics, length of time, and format. We can provide training as short as a three-hour workshop all the way up to a multi-session, quarter-long course.
As you work with the customized training coordinator, you will determine the appropriate length of your training. Our goal is to give you the right training in the shortest time possible.
What kind of training do you provide? We provide training in a wide variety of subject areas. If you do not find the topic you are interested in among our current customized training classes, please give us a call. Many of our instructors can provide training on topics that are not listed. If we don't offer the curriculum that matches your specific needs, we can create a new syllabus geared toward your business.
Who are your instructors? One of the things we are most proud of at WCC is the excellence of our instructors. When selecting instructors, we look for individuals with years of experience in their fields, substantial training experience, and friendly, outgoing personalities. Our instructors come from the business and computer worlds and most are still active contributors to the local business community.
How far in advance do I need to schedule training?Generally, we need one to three weeks to plan and schedule a customized training, depending on your needs and the level of customization and course development required.
What is the cost of customized training?
Customized training workshops are often less expensive than sending individuals to our regularly scheduled classes. Not only is the per-person cost less in most instances, the value of the training increases as we are able to focus on the specific skills and topics your organization requires. In many cases, we are able to incorporate examples from your business into the training, providing an opportunity for practical application of concepts taught in class.
