Whatcom Community College is in the process of partnering with local school districts to offer an option for people aged 16-20 to earn a high school diploma or a college degree or certificate even if they have already dropped out of high school or if they are still in school but don’t have enough credits to graduate on time.
Students can apply for Whatcom’s Open Doors program if they meet the following criteria:
- 16 to 20 years old, and
- No longer attending high school, or
- Significantly behind in receiving high school credits
- They live within the service area of a local high school that is partnering with Whatcom Community College for Open Doors.
Print and fill out this form that lets us know you are interested, and return it to the office of Transitional Learning Programs in Cascade Hall 167. Once the program has an official start date approved by OSPI, you will be invited to an orientation where you will learn more about the program and decide if it is right for you.
Your first quarter
In your first quarter you will take classes where you work with an instructor and a navigator to create a plan to reach your education goals. Your navigator will be there throughout your time in the Open Doors program to help you identify resources that can help you along the way.
Tuition & fees
There is no cost for students in the program.
