Student Life and Development Mission: To provide vibrant campus life and leadership programs that engage, educate, and empower WCC students.
Student Life and Development Vision: To be an innovator in leadership development and a cultivator of socially responsible citizens of a diverse, global community.
There are countless ways for Whatcom Community College students to actively participate in campus life and enhance your WCC experience. Whatcom's Office of Student Life and Development (OSLD) provides opportunities for students to get involved on campus, build community, and create a sense of belonging.
Some ways to get involved with Student Life and Development are:
- Student Life and Development events. The Office of Student Life and Development hosts a variety of events throughout the year! Check out the WCC Calendar for more information. We also host two annual conferences on campus: Catch the Next Wave Student Leadership Conference in the fall, and Students Leading Change Social Justice Conference in the spring.
- ASWCC Student Government. The Associated Students of Whatcom Community College student government includes the Executive Board, the Programming and Diversity Board, and the Student Senate. The ASWCC is an opportunity for students to use their voice to make decisions about funding, programming, events, and opportunities on campus.
- ASWCC Clubs. There are many different clubs on campus! Some clubs are focused on co-curricular programming, others on exploring identities, whereas others exist simply to build community and have fun. Contact club advisors for more info about specific clubs. Don't see a club you are interested in? It's easy to start a club!
- Student Ambassadors. The Student Ambassador team is a dynamic group of student leaders responsible for working the front desk of the Office of Student Life and Development, providing campus tours, serving as Pod Leaders at the Whatcom Wave new student orientation, and representing WCC in the community.
