Whatcom uses Informed Self-Placement (ISP) for English, an online, interactive program consisting of a series of informative videos and questionnaires designed to help you determine your best starting point in English coursework. The ISP placement process requires that you reflect on and thoughtfully assess your individual situation to locate the starting point in your English coursework that will provide you with your best chance of success in all courses at WCC.
How do I prepare for Informed Self Placement?
Although no formal test or measure is required of students using ISP for English, you will be asked to reflect on your past academic performance as part of the larger picture of your personal readiness, so having a measurement like high school grade point average (GPA), SAT or AP scores, or even a traditional placement test score (available through the Testing Center) when you complete the ISP process can provide you with valuable information to factor into your decision.
