Fr. Scott Connolly graduated in 1987 from the University of Notre Dame. After four years serving as a Lay Ecclesial Minister in Youth Ministry, he entered St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, CA, and was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Seattle in 1995. He has been serving parishes throughout Washington ever since, and has served as pastor at the Church of the Assumption since 2007.
Father Scott has been very active in our community, and is well known for leading through action. "He gets right in there and participates in so many ways," explains one of his parishioners. He donates to school programs, supported efforts to increase his parish's school's Hispanic enrollment, and made the school a priority in the parish's capital campaign.
These were some of the reasons why, in 2014, Father Scott was named by the Elementary Schools Department of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) a Distinguished Pastor of the Year. He was one of only seven pastors from around the country to receive this distinguished award, which honors those advancing Catholic elementary education "by providing strong spiritual guidance, demonstrating a clear philosophy of Catholic education, and working closely with the school community."
Father Scott's commitment to the community has also reached far beyond his parish. In 2012, he walked a fortyday 500-mile pilgrimage on the Camino to Stantiago de Compostela in the north of Spain. He kept a journal during this time, The Dance of Christian Life, which has since been published and is available for sale. Father Scott has donated all the proceeds of this book, to the Peace Health Cancer Center in Bellingham.
This Scholarship honors Father Scott's dedication to the community, and commitment to education by providing a pathway for Assumption students who wish to pursue a higher education.
The Fr. K. Scott Connolly Scholarship has been established to honor Father Scott's remarkable leadership, compassion and dedication to serving our community. This Scholarship will provide an annual award to a student who has attended Assumption Catholic School in Bellingham, WA to help them attend Whatcom Community College.

The philosophy behind Skipping Stone Foundation is that each good act is like a skipping stone, traveling far and positively impacting many places, causing many rings of ripples that go out into the world. Our lives are like this as well – the positive acts of our life will continue out into the world both while we are here, and after we are gone.
By providing funding for innovative programs, Skipping Stone Foundation is a catalyst for others to contribute to the health and well-being of Whatcom County. This creates lasting sustainable change for the better of individuals, families and our communities.
