When can I apply for a WCC Foundation Scholarship?
The WCC Foundation Scholarship applications are open twice a year. Beginning in late January, students can apply for funding for the upcoming academic year. In September, we offer a smaller round of funding that may be used for winter and spring quarters.
How does the WCC Foundation scholarship assessment and awarding process work?
Each application for WCC Foundation scholarships is reviewed by a committee of reviewers and the average of the scores is used in the awarding process. Staff are supported in this work by volunteers from the WCC Foundation Board of Directors, WCC retirees, WCC Alumni, and community members which make up the Review Committee. All applications are reviewed without identifiable student data using the same rubric, which is based on the criteria. Each named scholarship is awarded to the highest scoring student who meets its specific criteria, and general scholarship funds are awarded based on review score.
I'd like to be involved with the WCC Foundation; how do I do that?
You can help by donating to the WCC Foundation, volunteering, becoming a Foundation Student Ambassador, serving on the Board of Directors, or even becoming an alumni.
Does the WCC Foundation have an endowment? What is it?
The WCC Foundation has many endowed scholarships that are invested and are intended to exist in perpetuity to provide scholarships for students year after year.
How many scholarships are awarded to students every year?
The WCC Foundation awards more than 250 WCC students a scholarship each year. Awards typically range from $1,000 to $5,500 and can be used to cover tuition, fees, and other expenses.
