Community & Continuing Education classes are open to the general public and extend beyond the range of Whatcom Community College's regular instructional program. These courses are self-supporting, and the cost of instruction plus overhead costs are covered by course registration fees. They do not carry credit applicable toward a Whatcom degree or transfer to other institutions. No state tax monies are used for this program, residency is not required, and senior citizen discounts do not apply to self-supporting courses.
Registration
- You must register prior to the first class session.
- Registration fees are for one person unless otherwise specified in the course description.
- If the minimum enrollment for a class is not met, the class will have to be canceled. Your registration may make the difference, so early registration is encouraged.
Cancellations
- Full refunds will be issued to all participants if Community & Continuing Education must cancel a class due to low enrollment.
- To cancel a registration, please contact Community & Continuing Education at least seven calendar days prior to the class. You will be issued a full refund.
- If you cancel a registration less than seven calendar days prior to the class, you are entitled to a credit voucher, less a 10 percent administrative fee, that you may apply toward any Community & Continuing Education class offered within six months of the date of credit. Please note: a credit voucher may not be exchanged for a cash refund.
- NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS will be given for a class once it has started.* Refunds based on special circumstances must be requested in writing and are not guaranteed.
- To cancel your registration, please contact Community & Continuing Education at 360.383.3200 or comed@whatcom.edu.
*For virtual classes, the Community & Continuing Education office (comed@whatcom.edu) will send Zoom access information to the email address provided at the time of registration two business days prior to the start of each course. It is the responsibility of the participant to check their email inbox (including "spam" and "deleted" folders, or "Promotions" and "Important" folders in Gmail accounts) for Zoom access information prior to the class and, if said information has not been received, to contact our office during business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) before the class starts.
Disability Services
Students with disabilities who need accommodation are encouraged to call 360.383.3200 before registering.
Inclement Weather
Community & Continuing Education classes are canceled only when Whatcom Community College is officially closed due to severe weather. If Whatcom is not closed, Community & Continuing Education classes will meet as scheduled. Closure notifications will be posted on Whatcom's website; local radio stations covering school closures include KGMI 790 AM, KAFE 104.1 FM, and KPUG 1170 AM.
In the event of a closure, our office will email students enrolled in the affected classes with class rescheduling information as soon as possible.
