At WCC, you decide which English class you start with.

WCC’s online informed self-placement program for English takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. If at any point in the process, you need additional information, you may exit the program and return to it later. There is no time limit or limit on number of times you may access the online program.

Please note: International students and students who plan to enroll in adult basic education, English language learner or adult high school completion classes have different processes for placement. 

You'll be asked to reflect on your past academic performance as part of the larger picture of your personal readiness, so you may wish to have access to your high school grade point average (GPA), SAT or AP scores.

You're ready to complete your informed self-placement for English if you have...

1. Applied to Whatcom Community College and received a ctcLink ID ("EMPLID") from the college.
2. Activated your ctcLink account.

I completed the English placement process! What do I do now? 

Once you’ve completed the process, your English placement will be entered into ctcLink within two business days so you can enroll for the course you've chosen.
