Programs Leading to Professional Licensure

Although Whatcom Community College is able to offer a variety of degrees, certificates and individual courses to students wherever they are located, programs leading to professional licensure are subject to some Department of Education limits.

WCC offers several programs that meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in Washington state:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Massage Therapist
  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing
  • Nursing Assistant
  • Substance Use Disorder Professional

These programs are for students living in Washington state only. However, if there are prerequisites a student must complete before applying to a program, the student may complete those while living in another state.

In addition, WCC offers one program that meets the educational requirements for professional licensure in other states and US territories as well as in Washington state:

  • Physical Therapist Assistant

This program meets the educational requirements for professional licensure in the following states (all the US states) and territories. Students living in any of these locations may enroll in this program after applying and being admitted to it:

Whatcom Community College is not able to enroll students living in American Samoa, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands or Palau for any courses or programs.
